Big Changes for 2025

With our heartfelt appreciation, Te Whai say goodbye to three incredible team members, Social Worker Anne Casey, Paediatric Occupational Therapist Susi King, and Youth Worker Siobhan Henderson. Their dedication, compassion, and expertise have been invaluable to Te Whai and the wider Mangawhai community.

Anne, with her understanding of complex needs, has provided a safe and supportive space for individuals and whānau navigating life’s challenges. Her ability to truly listen, build trust, and offer practical solutions has changed lives. Her work in advocacy and connecting people with essential services has been instrumental in ensuring many in our community receive the help they need. But more than that, Anne became a trusted member of the team, listening and caring for all of us - which we will truly miss!

Susi’s compassion and wisdom has seen many children and parents benefit from her vast skill set. Her ability to connect and create support systems for some of our most vulnerable community members has been life changing. Susi has made a significant impact on our community through parenting groups, neurodiversity workshops, disability advocacy, paediatric occupational therapy clinics and so many other initiatives she brought to life over the past 4 years. We know that her impact in our community will be felt for years to come. Susi’s kindness, humour and delicious kai is already missed by our team.

Siobhan has been a champion for our rangatahi, fostering confidence, resilience, and connection. Her ability to relate to young people, guide them through challenges, and empower them to find their strengths has been inspiring. Through mentoring, group activities, and creating safe spaces for youth, she has made a lasting impact on many young lives.

While we farewell Anne, Susi and Siobhan, we remain committed to continuing these vital services in Mangawhai. However, funding for social services is increasingly scarce, and many providers, including Te Whai, are facing challenging times. We are actively working to secure the resources needed to keep supporting our community.

To Anne, Susi and Siobhan – thank you for your dedication, kindness, and the positive change you’ve created. You will always be part of the Te Whai whānau, and we wish you all the best in your next adventures!
