Matariki Community Hāngī 2021

Te Whai Community Trust would like to thank the outstanding goodwill that made the Matariki Community Hāngī such an incredible event.

Our heartfelt thanks to Pete Milo Paraha, Phillip and Paul for the hāngī. Nattie Connelly-Richards and Aaron Kemp for bringing Mangawhai Beach School kapa haka roopu. All our volunteers on the day. Special mention goes to Mangawhai Community Garden for a job so well done, and Sustainable Kaipara for setting the zero waste intention so well, and a number of superb Te Whai Sages and staff.

Four Square Mangawhai Heads and the Village Four Square each donated so generously, the Mangawhai Meat Shop for your donation sausages, both bakeries in Mangawhai and the generous community members that brought a real festive feel to our little cottage.

"We have big plans for next year’s Matariki public holiday. This year showed us how much interest there is for a Matariki community event, with over 200 people attending. Planning has already started for next year’s major event in Mangawhai, which is being supported by Northland Events.” Kiri
