Mental Wellbeing For Primary School Aged Children

He waka eke noa – we're all in this together.

Lockdown has posed many challenges, especially to family life. We have collated a collection of tips, activities and tools to help you navigate this time with primary school aged children to help support their mental health and wellbeing. 

Mental Health Foundation
Has developed a range of practical tips and tools for looking after yourself and your whānau. Their resource include tools for discussing mental health with children and dealing with the stresses of Covid-19. Getting Through Together 

Sparklers
Sparklers is a free wellbeing toolkit for year 1-8 students. They have over 70 wellbeing activities on their website. Find out more at www.sparklers.org.nz

One of the activities developed by Sparklers involves learning about and strengthening Te Whare Tapa Whā. The activity explores all aspects of our health/wellbeing and includes a printable worksheet, video and a list of things that tamariki can actively do to help boost their hauora and wellbeing.
